On Sunday, October 16th at 9:00 PM, under the baton of Music Director Marco Parisotto, the OFJ presents its program LA ESPAÑA DE CERVANTES for the Cervantino Festival at the Teatro Juárez in Guanajuato.  The program opens with a world premiere:  Vencidos, by Italian composer Fabio Vacchi, commissioned especially for the FIC. Vacchi  is one of the best-known and most influential personalities on the European music scene today.  Baritone Carlos Almaguer joins the OFJ in the performance of this work.

Next on the program is the symphonic poem Don Quijote, Op. 35, by Richard Strauss, written in 1897Cellist William Molina-Cestari will be the soloist who represents the Knight of the Woeful Countenance, fighting for his ideals against all adversity.  Our Spanish adventure continues with guitarist Cecilio Perera in Joaquín Rodrigo´s Concierto de Aranjuez, and the program concludes with the Second Suite from the ballet El sombrero de tres picos (The Three-Cornered Hat), by Manuel de Falla.

Guadalajara audiences will also be able to enjoy this program in PALCCO on Thursday, October 13th at 8:30 PM (with exception of the Fabio Vacchi work).
