On Sunday, December 4th at 12:30 PM in the Teatro Degollado, our audience will be treated to an important Guadalajara premiere: the Piano Concerto “Pirámide del Sol” by Guadalajara-born composer Juan Pablo Contreras. The work was first performed by the Sinfónica Nacional de México in September, 2015; then in November of the same year was premiered internationally by the Sinfónica Simón Bolivar de Venezuela, both times with Mexican pianist Abdiel Vázquez, to whom the concerto is dedicated, as soloist. The OFJ is honored to welcome Maestro Vázquez to the Degollado stage, where he and the orchestra will perform this work under the baton of Guadalajara-born conductor Enrique Radillo, a frequent guest of our orchestra.
The concert concludes under the direction of Music Director Marco Parisotto in an interpretation of English composer Gustav Holst´s epic score: The Planets.
