Third Orchestra Season 2018, Teatro Degollado

On the 27th  and 30th  of September, the OFJ and Guest Conductor Donato Cabrera (Music Director of both the Las Vegas Philharmonic and the California Symphony, who conducted our Orchestra in the Opera Competition at PALCCO last year), will participate in the Fortieth International Forum of New Music “Manuel Enriquez”.  In honor of the founder of one of the most renowned platforms for the promotion and diffusion of new musical creation worldwide, the OFJ will interpret two works by composer Manuel Enríquez,  who was born in Ocotlán, Jalisco.

The two concerts open with his Obertura lírica, written in 1963, and afterward, the Rapsodia latinoamericana, a work which was composed in 1987 on the occasion of the Latin American Summit (an event in which the Presidents of all of the nations in the region participated) and which incorporates characteristic pieces from each participating country.

Also featured in these concerts is our Concertmaster Iván Pérez, who will perform as soloist with the OFJ in the Mexican premiere of the Violin Concerto by American composer John Adams.

A new work selected by the FIMNME will also be presented; the title and composer will be announced shortly.   As we commemorate the forty years that have passed since the founding of FIMNME, we render homage to Maestro Enríquez, superlative Jalisco native, universally recognized, who in his youth was Concertmaster of the Sinfónica de Guadalajara (direct forbear of our orchestra).
