In Constructores de lo efímero (Builders of that which is ephemeral), a reference to the ephemeral nature of music, Mexican composer Federico Ibarra rendered homage to the UNAM Philharmonic Orchestra on its 80^th anniversary.  The composer has close ties to that orchestra—it represents his alma mater.  Next, composer Manuel M. Ponce`s best-known work, his Concierto del sur, reaffirms his pre-eminence as a composer for the guitar and demonstrates the Spanish influences in his music.  Our fourth program concludes with Robert Schumann`s final symphony, the Fourth, which exists in two historically relevant versions.
