32 UNPUBLISHED WORKS, each one created by a composer from the State of Jalisco, have been analyzed by an expert jury headed by distinguished composer Eduardo Angulo, in order to select the winners of the preliminary round of the Jalisco Orchestral Composition Awards. As a result, THREE FINALIST COMPOSITIONS have been chosen for world premiere performances, on Friday, the 17th, and Sunday, the 19th, of April:
- "Pausa", by Pedro Martínez del Paso
- "Suite Elixir”, by Oscar Vejar Rodríguez
- "Tequila", by José Luis González Moya
The first performance EVER of these new symphonic creations will take place on Friday the 17th at 8:30 PM, and at Sunday’s concert (the 19th,beginning at 12:30 PM), a fifty thousand peso award will be presented to the composer of the winning work, honorable mention given to the second and third place compositions and their authors, and…! Audience members will have the opportunity to choose their own favorite composition, whose author will be awarded the Reconocimiento del Público
We heartily congratulate our three finalists, along with each and every one of the 32 participants, who have provided an awe-inspiring demonstration of Jalisco’s talent in the important field of orchestral composition.
