MASTER CLASS IMPARTED BY FLAUTIST MICHAEL MARTIN KOFLER

EVENT DESCRIPTION

 

The OFJ takes pleasure in inviting the public to participate in a Master Class, which will be imparted by esteemed flautist MICHAEL MARTIN KOFLER, Principal Flute of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra (Münchner Philharmoniker).  The master class will take place on Thursday, March 5, 2015, in the auditorium of the School of Music of the Universidad de Guadalajara.

 

The class is intended for professional musicians who specialize in Flute Performance, and for the general public.  There will be two categories of attendees:  Participant and Auditor.

 

In the Participant category, five (5) candidates will be selected to perform and receive instruction in classes of a half-hour in duration. Those flautists who wish to become candidates for the selection process must send a video (minimum duration: 5 minutes) and curriculum vitae, to the following e-mail address:

Repertoire is to be chosen by the candidates themselves, at their own discretion, but must include three selections from flute concertos or other standard solo flute repertory.  Orchestral excerpts may be added; these, depending on the opinion of  Maestro Kofler, may be presented and reviewed during the individual participant’s class.

 

 REGULATIONS:

 

1.  The Master class will take place on March 5, 2015, beginning at 1:00 PM and ending at 4:00 PM.

 

2.  Only highly-qualified candidates will be invited in the Participant category.

 

3.  Interested flautists who wish to participate as candidates in the selection process must send their (minimum:  5 minute) video and current curriculum vitae by the 27th of February of this year, to the e-mail address:  [email protected]

 

4.  Pre-selection:  An indispensable prerequisite of the selection process is that on or before the 27th of February, 2015, each interested candidate has sent, whether by e-mail, standard postal service, or courier, the following documents in order to be registered and considered for the personalized master class:  Copy of official Identification, Curriculum Vitae, and copy of Proof of Musical Studies (this can be in the form of a Conservatory or Music School diploma or a letter attesting to the candidate’s ongoing musical studies from these institutions), and a link to a video interpretation of one or various solo works or orchestral excerpts from the standard repertoire for his/her instrument, of minimum five minutes in duration (the video must be clear in both sound and image and must focus directly upon the candidate without cuts or editing of any kind;  the video link may be from YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive or a downloadable video file from Dropbox, sent to  [email protected], Attention: L.A.E. 5.  Only after all of the above-mentioned material has been received and evaluated will the OFJ contact those candidates who have been selected as Participants in the personalized Master Class.

 

6.  Costs of transportation, food, lodging, and other travel expenses will be borne by the participants.  The OFJ will not provide any form of economic assistance.

 

7.  The Master Class will take place in the Auditorium of the School of Music of the Universidad de Guadalajara, located on Morelos Street (Calle Morelos), almost at the corner of Degollado, in downtown Guadalajara; Jalisco, Mexico, postal code 44100.

 

8.  All participants must arrive punctually, 30 minutes before the class begins.  At that moment, lots will be drawn to decide the order of participation.

 

9.  The class will be free and open to the general public.
