The OFJ`s second 2015 orchestra season opens with a program that continues this year`s Tchaikovsky Cycle, with three of the great Russian composer`s most well-known, brilliant, and technically demanding works. We will begin with the Capriccio Italiano, a work replete with elements of Italian folklore that aptly describes that peninsula`s musical and dance traditions, framed by a lovely landscape awash in brilliant Italian sunshine. Then, Alexandre Da Costa, a favorite soloist of our Tapatio public, returns to regale us with his interpretation of the composer’s Violin Concerto, one of the most ravishingly beautiful scores ever written for this instrument. We close our program with the symphonic fantasia Francesca de Rimini, a representative work from the great Russian symphonic literature.
