First 2016 Orchestra Season, Teatro Degollado
Our concertmaster, the brilliant SuperSoloist Iván Pérez, will appear in front of the orchestra for the third time, interpreting the Paganini Violin Concerto No. 1, a work which astounded both audience and critics at its premiere on account of its sheer brilliance and extreme technical demands.
Stalin was, at times, more preoccupied with symphonies and their possible hidden meanings than he was with affairs of state. Shostakovich, after his Ninth Symphony was banned in 1948, stopped composing symphonies until Stalin´s death in March, 1953. December of that same year saw the première of the work which quintessentially exemplified the technical mastery and compositional inventiveness that characterize the music of Shostakovich, the monumental Tenth Symphony.
