“The subject of this musical drama was none other than my love for Miss Smithson and the anguish and ‘bad dreams’ it had brought me.”
With these words, the French composer Héctor Berlioz described the inspiration for his Symphonie Fantastique, entitled “Fantastical Symphony: An Episode in the Life of an Artist, in Five Parts”, Op. 14. The OFJ will interpret this work under the baton of its Music Director, Marco Parisotto, on Thursday the 23rd and Sunday, the 26th, of February.
In these concerts, the OFJ will warmly welcome outstanding Venezuelan trumpet player Pacho Flores, considered by many to be one of the greatest in the world today. For his Jalisco debut, Maestro Flores has prepared an arrangement of Aires gitanos, by Spanish composer and violinist Pablo de Sarasate, in addition to the Guadalajara premiere of Mestizo, the trumpet concerto written by Efraín Oscher and dedicated to Pacho Flores: a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the Tapatio public to delight in some of the best trumpet playing on Earth.
