The OFJ is honored to welcome Tambuco, the premier Mexican percussion ensemble. In the upcoming concerts on Thursday, March 2nd and Sunday, March 5th, Tambuco will present the world premiere of Metal de tréboles (Shamrock Metal) by Mexican composer Javier Álvarez.
Under the baton of Marco Parisotto, the OFJ will also offer the Silvestre Revueltas Suite sinfónica from the film score he wrote for the movie Redes. With regard to this music, Eduardo Mata commented, ”It functions well as incidental music by perfectly complementing the images in the Zinnemann film and adding dramatic impact.”
The program concludes with the First Symphony in C minor, Op. 68 by Johannes Brahms. Hans von Bülow considered it “Beethovens Tenth”. The score’s genesis was difficult, taking the author almost fourteen years to complete the work.
