Third Orchestra Season 2017, Teatro Degollado
At once Romantic and Traditional, his music characterized by melodic elegance and beauty, French composer Camille Saint-Saëns is the focus of the third program of our third 2017 orchestra season.
Three soloists grace the first half of the program: our two concertmasters, Angélica Olivo and Iván Pérez, begin with two of our composer´s great “war horses” for their instrument, the Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso and the Habanera.
Next, we will have the honor of participating in the Guadalajara debut of one of today´s most important exponents of the violoncello, Byelorussian cellist Iván Karizna, Bronze Medal winner of the Fourteenth International Tchaikovsky Competition, who will interpret one of the crown jewels of the Romantic repertoire for his instrument, Saint-Saëns´ Concerto No. 1 in A Minor for Violoncello and Orchestra.
As the program´s title would suggest, its conclusion will be a veritable symphonic monument: the Symphony No. 3 in C Minor (“Organ” Symphony), the final symphony written by this French Romantic, a great work for showcasing a virtuoso orchestra.
