Conjunto de Artes Escénicas
The OFJs activities this season begin with a special gala event: a concert in the Conjunto de Artes Escénicas (CAE) of the Universidad de Guadalajara. On this occasion, we extend a warm Jalisco welcome to amazing Latvian mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča, who will regale us with her ample vocal abilities in a repertory of opera arias which include Tchaikovsky´s Maid of Orleans, Samson and Delilah by Camille Saint-Saens, Adriana Lecouvreur by Francesco Cilea and Bizet´s Carmen, in addition to selections from the zarzuelas El barberillo de Lavapiés and El barquillero. Elīna Garanča will be accompanied by the OFJ under the direction of Constantine Orbelian, who will also direct the orchestra itself in the Overture to Russlan and Ludmilla (Glinka), Danza No. 1 from La vida breve (Manuel DeFalla) and the Bacchanale from Samson and Delilah, among other delights.
Save the date: Saturday, January 27th in the Sala Plácido Domingo.
