First Orchestra Season 2018
After the extraordinary success of the OFJ´s presentation of the Mahler Symphony No. 2, "Resurrection" during the Third Orchestra Season of 2017, the Jalisco ensemble continues with its presentation of Mahler´s symphonic genius--on this occasion with his Fifth Symphony in C# Minor. Conceived during the summers of 1901 and 1902, this Symphony explores the symphonic universe, and its genesis was inspired by love. At the moment when he began composing this work, Mahler first met Alma María Schindler, who after a short courtship became his life partner. The Adagietto of this work is considered to be a loving portrait of Alma.
The Mahler Fifth Symphony can be heard on the 22nd and 25th of February under the baton of Marco Parisotto.
