The Dvořák Carnival Overture tastefully combines the style of Brahms with the luminosity and essence of Bohemia, opens this season`s third program.  It will be followed by the robust Grieg Piano Concerto, a staple of the repertoire which was admired in its time by none other than Franz Liszt, the greatest piano virtuoso of the epoch and a principal figure in the Romantic Movement. The Vaughan Williams Symphony No. 2, subtitled “A London Symphony”, makes an interesting—and successful—attempt to describe the urban ambience of the English capital by a composer who lived, but was not born, there.
