Press Conference for the Second Program
Arturo Gómez, General Manager of the Orquesta Filarmónica de Jalisco, began the press conference by welcoming Maestro Alfredo Ibarra, Guest Director for this week's program, the second of the current orchestra season. Mr. Gómez summarized Maestro Ibarra's impressive currículum vitae and exclaimed: “It's a pleasure to have him here”.
Director Alfredo Ibarra expressed his gratitude and said that he was moved by the orchestra's invitation. He spoke of the program to be performed, dedicated to one single composer, Tchaikovsky, He assured all that even if they aren't familiar with this composer, they have listened to something he wrote.
He told the group that the three pieces that are included in the program, in additon to their intrinsic beauty and esthetic value, enjoy the advantage of fitting very well together.
The concert begins with Marche Slave, followed by the Suite from Swan Lake-- precisely the work that converted Tchaikovsky into a “Rock Star”, world-renowned by the end of the nineteenth century--and ends the program with his Symphony No.4, a piece that reflects depression, sadness, and gives one the sensation that the universo conspires against him.
“Tchaikovsky is a composer who, once you listen to his work, sticks with you for life” says Maestro Alfredo, and the public will enjoy this concert from the first note to the last.
