OFJ Celebrates its Twentieth International Mariachi Festival
From Thursday,August 29th through Sunday, September 8th, the Orquesta Filarmónica de Jalisco will accompany the very best local and international Mariachi groups as they celebrate the XX Encuentro Internacional del Mariachi (Twentieth International Mariachi Festival). The OFJ's participation in the festival consists of eight gala performances in the Teatro Degollado, here in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, the Land of the Mariachi.
The groups performing in this genre with whom we have worked in earliar years, Los Camperos de Nati Cano (from Los Angeles, California, U.S.A.), the Mariachi América (from Mexico City), the Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlán y el Mariachi Vargas (Tecalitlán, Jalisco), return to the Degollado stage with their beautiful songs and plan to include some new numbers especially arranged for the festival's twentieth anniversary.
The orchestra will accompany them under the secure baton of its Director Emeritus, Hector Guzman, and connoisseurs among the public will detect some passages in these arrangements where the OFJ really demonstrates its brilliance.
