Under the batón of Guest Conductor Alfredo Ibarra, acclaimed by international critics as "A virtuoso talent who excels, both in his conducting and in his taste in the selection of authors", the Orquesta Filarmónica de Jalisco presents a really novel program, "Gamers Sinfónico", as a foretaste of its upcoming Third Orchestra Season of 2019.  The two concerts that present this program take place on Thursday, September 5th at 8:30 PM and Sunday, September 8th at 12:30 PM in the Teatro Degollado.

This eclectic program features the most representative themes of the most beloved video games and television series of recent times.

In a high-fidelity audiovisual production, the OFJ will open the program with music from Game of Thrones.  Consistent with the series' high production values, the music, by German composer Ramin Djawadi, is monumental in scope.

Koji Kondo is the musical mastermind behind the iconic video game Super Mario Bros, forming the culture of an entire generation.  From the same composer, the well-beloved music of The Legend of Zelda soundtrack is also included in our program.

Another of the best-known characters from the land of video games comes to life through the music from Sonic the Hedgehog.  Then, from composer Joe Hisaishi, we listen to some of the soundtrack from the anime film Howl's Moving Castle.

Nyan Cat (also known as Pop-Tart Cat) is the name of a 2011 YouTube video that immediately became an Internet phenomenon.  The Japanese word "nyā" is the same as our "meow".

Lilium is the theme from the opening sequence in the anime series Elfenlied. Composed  by Kayo Konishi and Yukio Kondō,who used Biblical passages and religious music in their conception of the work, the music evokes the atmosphere of Gregorian Chant.

Kirby, another iconic video game character, has arrived at the "next level" with Kirby's 20th Anniversary, and his fans can listen to the anniversary theme with the OFJ.

Music from Pokémon, composed by Junichi Nasuda, has such an important role in the video games of the same name, that it has likewise been included in the Pokémon series and films.

The epic atmosphere of the Halo saga, by composer Martin O'Donnell, will be seen and heard in all its splendor with our OFJ.

Next comes the well-known music from the video game Tetris, whose real name is Korobeiniki.  With its gradually accelerating rhythm and folk-dance style, this music quickly became a well-known popular Russian song throughout the video gamers' universe.

Assassin's Creed III is an action-adventure video game whose soundtrack was conceived by Scottish composer Lorne Balfe.
