José Luis Castillo debuts as director of the OFJ
The Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra (OFJ) began its First Season 2022, with the debut of maestro José Luis Castillo, as principal conductor and the farewell of maestro Salvador Gómez Tachiquín, a musician from Jalisco who said goodbye to the orchestra after 30 years as a double bass player.
Prior to the concert, which took place last night at the Degollado Theater, the Secretary of Culture of Jalisco, Lourdes González Pérez, welcomed the audience, who returned to the theater in person, as well as José Luis Castillo, who began its functions with a repertoire to celebrate the 225th anniversary of the birth of Franz Schubert and the 125th death anniversary of Johannes Brahms.
He also expressed his respect, admiration and gratitude for maestro Gómez Tachiquín and recalled that "the Orchestra would not be the group that it is without the sum of each one of its musicians, who each concert put their hearts on this stage to share the music with their public".
The season will continue until April 10, on Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. and Sundays at 12:30 p.m., at the Degollado Theater. Tickets will be available at the box office and on Ticketmaster and with prices from 90 to 250 pesos, with discounts for students, teachers, people with disabilities and the elderly.
