The OFJ has a premiere for a Mexican composer
The Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra (OFJ) begins its fourth week of the first 2022 season and on this occasion celebrates Franz Schubert in addition to presenting the premiere in Jalisco of the Mexican composer María Granillo, who, on the occasion of the documentary Naica, travels to the Cueva de los Cristales, directed by Gonzalo Infante, had the task of creating a melody that produced the emotion of entering a sacred precinct for the first time. "The climactic scene of the documentary shows a magical and wonderful vision of the enormous Naica crystals located in Chihuahua, Mexico," the organizers specify in a statement.
Then they continue with The Creation of the World, Opus 81, a ballet composed by the French Jewish composer Darius Milhaud for which he used elements of jazz. The famous American composer, pianist and conductor Leonard Bernstein recorded this work several times and you will have the delight of enjoying it live.
“Schubert was a free artist who composed what he wanted and when he wanted. Very few works are written to order. Schubert's Symphony 2 is a good prelude to the enormous musical achievements that the composer would obtain in his mature symphonies”, they specify.
