MASTER CLASS 

The Orquesta Filarmónica de Jalisco, as part of its activities in this First Temporada of 2014, is pleased to invite interested members of the public to participate in a master class to be given by internationally recognized Canadian violinist Alexandre Da Costa.  The event takes place this Wednesday, the 19th of February in the Sala de Cámara José Pablo Moncayo (Teatro Degollado, Morelos Street entrance) from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.

The class will be directed to violinists, violists, and violoncellists; members of the public may participate as performers or as auditors.

Alexandre Da Costa, 2010 winner of the Virginia -Parker Prize, awarded by the Government of Canada in recognition of his international career , has offered more than a thousand solo concerts in Europe , Asia and North America.


Concert halls in which he has performed include the Vienna Musikverein , the Berlin Philharmonie , Carnegie Hall in New York, Musikhalle Hamburg , Beijing Poly Theater and the National Auditorium in Madrid.


He has collaborated with prestigious orchestras such as the London Royal Philharmonic, Berliner Symphoniker , Wiener Symphoniker, Dresdner Philharmonie, Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal , Toronto Symphony Orchestra and the RTVE Orchestra, with conductors such as Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Leonard Slatkin, Matthias Bamert, Günter Herbig , Lior Shambadal, Yannick Nézet - Séguin, and Peter Oundjian, among others.

He has participated in more than fifteen recordings for major labels such as Warner Classics , Universal, and JVC, among others. His recording of "Fire and Blood", a work of American composer Michael Daugherty inspired by the art of renowned Mexican painters Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo, won Canada prestigious Juno Award in 2012.
